[Meredith voiceover] : Dying changes everything . There’s the emotional fallout , sure . But there’s also the practical stuff . Who’s going to do your job? Who’s going to take care of your family? The only good thing for you is you don’t have to worry about it . People you never knew will be living in your house , working your job . The world just keeps on going … without you .
This episode set 30 days after the plane crash and starts with a new intern named , Jo Wilson walks out from the elevator . While she keeps walking Meredith voiceover keeps nagging about dying , dying and dying . Jo walk and saw Stephanie who is another new intern . Damn , I hate interns . Eh , no I don't hate interns . I just don't like the idea of new character in Grey's Anatomy . How many interns Shonda Rhimes gonna create for us this season , duhh .
Jo asks Stephanie to help her about this Medusa thing . Medusa ? Who the hell is Medusa ? Another new doctor ? Oh god , I feel so dizzy right now . But then the camera point Medusa at us and taaaa daaa .. Dr. Bailey and Dr. Grey at the counter doing some doctor works . Now which one of them is Medusa ? My money is on Bailey .
Jo keeps staring at them and Bailey asks her , what's the problem . Jo answers with her almost crying voice .. "I have these labs for Dr.Grey ."
Now I know who is Medusa . Meredith Grey a.k.a The Medusa keep pressuring the intern and didn't give Jo any chance to speak .
Meredith : I have been waiting those labs for an hour .
Jo : I had to do an admission ...
Meredith : Stop making excuses .
Jo : Sorry .
Meredith : Stop apologizing . Stop talking .
Meredith is annoyed and kick the intern to the pit . She also reminds to Jo , try not to kill any patient in the pit . While Bailey look amazed with Meredith Medusa teaching method .
Cristina is working as a doctor in Minnesota after the plane crash . She had to deal with some new adjustment about how she's gonna work with an old man who likes to chitchat about his surgery . The old man is Dr. Craig Thomas . Duhh , seriously this Cristina storyline doesn't really get me . It's kinda boring .
Derek is grabbing a small ball with his brand new left hand . His face look so frustrated . Dr. Webber walk in the room to remind Derek about 5:00 o' clock thing .
Back to Dr. Bailey , she is busy teaching some new eager interns . Did I mentioned how stupid these interns are when none of them can answer Dr. Bailey's question ? Suddenly , Dr. Bailey long - time boyfriend interrupt them and answering Dr. Bailey 's question as Bailey face turns bright - glowing - sunshiny when she saw her Ben standing at the door .
Bailey leaves those stupid - eager interns and running excitedly with Ben to the nearest on call room . [what the hell is going on with this hospital] . Bailey try to open the on call room door but it's lock as we saw inside the on call room Dr. Alex Karev is too busy doing
At the emergency room a nurse keeps staring at Callie . Callie , who is uncomfortable with the staring thing shouts at the nurse to stop staring at her as that doesn't helping at all . The nurse give a sympathetic look and says , "I'm sorry Dr. Torres ."
Callie then caught Dr. Avery who is staring at her too . She shouts "Really , Avery ? You too ?" but Avery denies it and run away before Dr. Torres turns into Angry Callie Bear .
Derek arrives and give some doctor opinion on Callie's patient . He suggests Callie to book an OR as they need to operate the patient as soon as possible . Callie look shocked when Derek decides to scrubbing in too as Derek still practicing his new left hand to become Derek's million dollar hand again . Derek insists that he is ready to operate .
Derek inform Meredith about the operation and Meredith looks disagree and says it is a big deal as today is a big day and he shouldn't put this kind of pressure on himself today . Meredith asks Derek why he chose to operate today and Derek says he need to start operating again , especially today . Derek tells Meredith he can't just sit down and looking at the clock . Derek give Meredith a kiss before leaves .
At the ICU . Callie is talking to Mark , who is still in coma about Derek . I guess today is the day he's gonna operate , Callie said . Derek walk into the room . Callie tells to Derek maybe Mark will wake up if she says something big or shocking enough . They both look at the clock and it's 7 hours until 5:00 o' clock .
We all know Mark Sloan love dirty talk . So Callie starts to talk about boobs while Derek just smile to Callie . But Mark didn't open his eyes even though the hot Dr. Torres talking about boobs . Callie sighs .
1994 [video tape]
"You are a terrible best man ." A video tape shows Mark having a conversation with Derek before Derek's wedding . Mark keeps trying to convince Derek not to get married . He says that god intended for them many , many women , especially for men like them . Derek laugh and answers it with , "I just hope you didn't forget the rings ."
"Derek , you're lucky to have me . You will never ever find another friend as good as me , ever ." Mark said before he realize someone recording their conversation .
2007 [video tape]
Mark and Callie had some sexy time . Mark suggest that they record it , so he set up a camera . They start kissing but then Callie throw a pillow to the camera .
Meredith decides to do the intern appy today . Webber and Bailey start talking about Meredith nickname . Meredith at first didn't know that all the interns called her 'Medusa' until Bailey tells her . Bailey says that the nickname is not a bad thing . You want to be the attending with a scary nickname . It keeps your residents in line , it strikes fear in their heart . It's good to be feared , Bailey says . Webber tells to Bailey that she also has a new nickname now before leaving .
Cristina is still adjusting herself at Minnesota .
Meredith skype with Cristina , nagging about her nickname to Cristina as Cristina says she had to push her flight tonight . We all know they both have a problem to get on the plane after the horrible tragedy . Owen watches they both skyping and asks if his wife is coming home tonight . Meredith tells Owen that Cristina had to push her flight and probably can't get on the plane .
Alex joins Meredith and Jackson at cafeteria as Alex says he's been saying goodbye all day to his fan club [the interns , of course] before he goes to Hopkins tonight .
Still at the cafeteria , Jo is whining about Medusa with her friends . She says she will never get into an OR as long Medusa is her attending . Medusa walks towards them and says she's gonna choose one of them to perform their first surgery . The interns , Shane Ross , Heather Brooks , Stephanie Edwards all excited about that . And guess what ???
Medusa chose Jo and Jo choke her soda .
Callie and Derek are busy discussing about their patient when Chief Owen Hunt comes in with a man . Oh no , a new doctor ? Owen introduces the man as Mel Barnett from Miami . Mel then introduces himself as the new attending for peds surgery .
Mel : And you are ?
Derek : Derek Shepherd , uh , neuro .
Callie : Callie Torres , ortho .
Mel facial expression changes . He then says sorry to Callie about her wife . He says he heard .. but then Callie cut him off by saying "thank you ."
What the hell is wrong with this hospital
I just want to be alone !
Callie's crying alone in one of the supply room as Alex walks into the room with Leah Murphy , another intern that Alex screwed with . Apparently , they both are too busy sucking each other face to realize that they are not alone in there . Callie sobbing makes them shocked and Leah quickly get out from that room .
Alex asks if Callie is okay but Callie shouts at him to get out . Alex didn't listen but close the door and watches Callie crying , quietly .
Back at the ICU , Jackson is talking to Mark a.k.a his mentor . He keeps talking and talking about their patients as if Mark can hear him .
Bailey and Ben having some sexy time as Bailey's interns are laughing from outside the on call room and that makes Bailey piss off .
In the OR , Derek and Callie are just about to starts their surgery . Everybody cheer for Derek when he comes in and keeps staring at him , waiting for Derek to says his favorite line before begin operating on the patient . "It's a beautiful day to save lives ." Derek smile .
In another OR , Meredith a.k.a Medusa supervising Jo who is also in the OR doing the intern appy as other interns watch them from the gallery . Apparently , Shane , Leah , Heather and Stephanie are too busy focusing on bad - mouthing Medusa than observing the surgery . They didn't realize that Medusa can hear what they says until Chief Owen Hunt explain that the little red light means the intercom is on . All the interns gives an :O face .
Back in Derek and Callie's OR . The surgery goes well but suddenly Derek can't grab the instrument and he know that there is something wrong with his hand . He decides to get out from the OR even though Callie asks him to stay for a while .
2009 [video tape]
Mark at Callie and Arizona wedding . Talking about how Callie and Arizona gonna grow old together and dancing at their granddaughter's wedding . The person who record the video then asked Mark , who's gonna be his partner at his granddaughter wedding . And Mark answers , " Oh , well that's easy . Lexie Grey ."

Alex looking for Callie to talk about Mel Barnett , the new peds guy but Callie is not in the mood to talk . Alex keeps saying that the peds guy gonna destroy the African kids program and how Dr. Robbins never gonna let that happen . Alex says he can't do anything because he's leaving for Hopkins and the only person that can stop the ped guys is Callie's wife , Arizona Robbins . "Sometimes things die , Alex . And there is nothing you can do about it ." Callie tells to Alex .
In the OR , all the interns cheer from the gallery as they saw Jo succesful taking out the appendix . But then , the surgery goes bad as Jo accidentally ripped the secum wide open . Jo panicked because this is her first surgery and she didn't know what to do to fix it . Meredith had to step up and continues the surgery when Jo just standing there , panic .
Callie finds Derek in a room . Callie try to comforts Derek and starts talking about how they both shouldn't try the surgery as they are emotionally unstabble right now , thinking about Mark . Derek who is under a lot of pressure says "My hand went numb in there !" before he angrily kick a clinical tray . Dr. Webber walk in and tells them that it's almost 5:00 o' clock .
At the ICU , Jackson talks to Mark who is still in coma , about their patients . Jackson look at his mentor . You've taught me a lot . But I think I can take it from here , Jackson says to Mark in his sad voice before leaves .
Derek , Webber and Callie walk into the ICU . Webber begin to explain what he's gonna do to Derek and Callie . Callie cut him off and says that they are all doctors and he don't need to explain this .
Dr. Webber : Even if you think that you already prepared for what about to happen , you're not . Your brain can't fully absorb about we're about to do . By saying this , I'm giving you a little time to catch - up .
Dr. Webber turns the ventilator off and Callie sobbing beside Derek . Webber then leaves to give them some privacy .
Callie and Derek still waiting by Mark's bedside while Jackson , Webber and Meredith watches them from outside the room . Meredith says that they try so hard in the woods , trying to keeps Mark alive . Meredith then stand up and says she have to go to meet Cristina .
Meredith is at the airport waiting for her flight as she see Alex . Meredith is clearly piss off with Alex's decision to go to Hopkins .
Meredith : It's not the same . Nothing is the same . Everything is different . Everyone's leaving and everyone is dying .
Alex : Don't make this my problem . I'm finally getting the hell outta here . I can't keep standing around being the guy who should've been on the plane crashed . I shouldn't be here , Mer . I got a plane to catch , so bye .
Alex then walk away . We also saw Owen at the airport , almost miss his flight .
Callie and Derek still sit by Mark's bedside as they both watch the monitor and Mark's pulse goes low and lower . A tears streaming down Callie cheeks as Derek look at her and they both know what's going to happen . Meanwhile outside the room Webber , Jackson , Bailey and Ben watch them , silently . Mark's monitor goes flatline . Callie and Derek both crying by his bedside .
Believe it or not , I also cry at this scene even though I already watch this episode for almost 5 times .

Meredith sit nervously in the plane . She clearly still scared to fly after the plane crashed thing . She decides to get off the plane . She stand up and scream at the plane crew to open the freaking door .
LET ME OFF FROM THE DAMN PLANE ! Meredith screams .
Cristina is skyping Meredith again about how she can't get on the plane . They both share their story before Alex appear and sit beside Meredith . Meredith shocked when she see Alex who should've been on his plane right now . Alex tells Meredith and Cristina that he couldn't get on his plane because the new peds guy are gonna destroy his African kid program . Meredith then give Alex a siblings hug .
Owen who I thought that he's gonna visit Cristina at Minnesota turns out visitting April Kepner who is now working on her father's farm after Owen fired him . April , of course surprised to see Owen as Owen offers April her job back at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital .
p/s : April Kepner is a very annoying character but I think she's definitely better being a doctor than feeding the pigs at her father's farm .
Back in Seattle , Callie take a deep breath before open her bedroom door . As she open the door , we saw Arizona lying on their bed , looking miserable .
Callie : Uh , I can't keep doing this alone , Arizona . I just can't . Get up . Get the hell out of the bed and snap out of this . If not for me , then for Sofia because she lost a parent last night . And I lost my best friend . And I will be damned if I lose you too .
Arizona : Snap out of this ? Snap out of this ? [Arizona shows her left leg that already been amputated]
Arizona [shouts] : How the hell am I supposed to snap out of this when you cut off my leg ?
Callie close the door and leave Arizona alone .
[Video Tape]
This last video shows us Mark and Callie posing , big smile on their face with Callie holding Sofia in her arms . It's a welcome home party for Sofia . Arizona was supposed to take Mark and Callie's picture but nothing is happening and Arizona didn't know how to handle the camera . She think it's on video . Mark is being Mark and take over the camera as Arizona refused .
Arizona : I don't need your help . I don't need ...
Mark : We have a kid together , Robbins . So you're stuck with me and my help .
Mark is taking over the camera and point the camera to himself and this episode ended with this scene ...
Meredith [voiceover] : They say death is hardest on the living . It’s tough to actually say goodbye . Sometimes it’s impossible . You never really stop feeling the loss . It’s what makes things so bittersweet . We leave little bits of ourselves behind , little reminders , a lifetime of memories , photos , trinkets , things to remember us by … even when we’re gone .
After this , there will be no Mark and Callie scenes .
